Desired Outcomes:
- Build resilience and connectedness by increasing partnerships that are inclusive and equitable
- Build a community coalition to reduce youth substance use
- Improve adult literacy levels and youth school preparedness
Collaborative Goals:
- Partner with Resilient Northeast Georgia to embed trauma-informed practices within current programming and services
- Host an online platform to coordinate a network of health and social care providers
- Implement a Book Rich Environment model in Newton County
Newton County Family Connection works to improve outcomes related to improvements to the existing health systems, the creation and sustenance of a Drug-Free Community, and the improvement of literacy outcomes through partnerships with local service providers and stakeholders. In collaboration with Resilient Northeast Georgia’s trauma-informed communities initiative and other collaborative partners, Newton County Family Connection will present workshops and training opportunities intended to increase provider capacity for awareness and prevention of Adverse Childhood Experiences.
As a part of the Resilient Northeast Georgia coalition, Newton County’s Family Connection collaborative will align its trauma-informed community initiative with the efforts of its community development initiatives, supporting existing infrastructure while providing a new lens of focus on the collaborative’s actions. This focus on a trauma-informed model will be supported through the development of a shared language and knowledge built in the support of community resilience.
