Who is Resilient Northeast Georiga? In short, all of us!
Resilient Northeast Georgia is an emerging, regional collaborative formed by the Athens Area Community Foundation, the Athens Wellbeing Project, and Georgia Family Connection Partnership. As convening partners, we are looking to build and grow trauma-informed care practices across twelve counties that make us our region of service. So, if you live or work in Clarke, Barrow, Jackson, Oconee, Oglethorpe, Madison, Morgan, Walton, Newton, Jasper, Elbert, or Green Counties, want to learn more about building a trauma-informed community, or serve people between the ages of zero and twenty-six, you are a part of this work!
Growing out of a grant opportunity provided by Resilient Georgia, the Resilient Northeast Georgia collaborative is expanding upon existing and emerging trauma-related initiatives from across the region, weaving together efforts across sectors, geopolitical boundaries, and disciplines to create an adaptive, innovative, and interdependent network of partners who have come together to build a more trauma-informed northeast Georgia. To achieve this, we follow five main aims, which guide every aspect of the work being done under the umbrella of Resilient Northeast Georgia. They are:
- Promote coordinated trauma-informed practices across systems
- Advance the workforce through recruitment, education, and development
- Build a common language and awareness surrounding adversity and resiliency
- Advocate for changes across policies, programs, systems, and environments, incorporating a Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) lens.
- Create a sustainable model of collaborative action for the region.
As the coalition continues to expand across the region, we seek to recruit diverse stakeholder, identify and implement evidence-based, trauma-informed trainings, resources, and opportunities, and create regional synergy surrounding the prevention of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). At present, we are engaging in regional and county-level strategic planning, but will soon begin posting more information about upcoming events, regional initiatives, and coalition news as it happens, so stick around! In the meantime, explore the website, learn more about the coalition’s aims and partnerships, and use the contact form to ask any questions!
