• Improved school success through increased knowledge and access to resources and services

Collaborative Goals:

• All children will have supports for school success
• All families will have increased knowledge of and access to resources and services, including parent leadership programs
• Full partner in the Resilient Northeast Georgia coalition, working to provide regional emphasis on trauma-informed awareness and care, ACEs, and child sexual abuse prevention training as a basis to transform systems and procedures across sectors. Strategies include:
  • promoting coordinated trauma-informed practices across systems
  • developing the workforce through education and recruitment
  • building a common language and awareness of adversity and resiliency
  • advocating for PPSE changes with a JEDI lens
  • developing a sustainable regional model of collaborative action

Oglethorpe County Family Connection focuses on initiatives that strengthen school preparedness and family support through partnership with local service providers and stakeholders working with families. In collaboration with Resilient Northeast Georgia’s trauma-informed communities initiative, Oglethorpe County Family Connection has adopted a community approach to building a common language and awareness of trauma-informed care and Adverse Childhood Experiences prevention using a community resilience building model.

As a part of the Resilient Northeast Georgia coalition, Oglethorpe County’s Family Connection collaborative will provide community training events that increase community capacity for action and support a growing knowledge base surrounding adversity and resiliency. A key part of this strategy will be achieved by tying all efforts back to school-based success at a family level, engaging partners working to improve knowledge of and access to resources that support family and community resiliency.
